A guidance system is only as good as the information it contains. For this reason, an update of the Wachau guidance system is essential. During the overhaul, information on establishments and business data as well as on sights and public transport will be brought up to date.

In the past funding period, a uniform signage system was developed in the Wachau World Heritage region. At the heart of this system are the total of 65 information boards. Situated at central locations in all Wachau municipalities, these point to tourist establishments and sights and make reference to everyday amenities (local authority, doctors, ...). In the long term, however, this system can only fulfil its purpose if the information shown is always up to date. That is why business data, locations and mobility information are being updated as part of a general overhaul.

The information boards will be brought up to date with stickers that are applied over all or part of them, depending on the content and any changes needed. This requires a graphical revision, which will also have to be reprinted and mounted accordingly. A some boards require only minor changes, only the corresponding sub-areas will have the revised subjects stuck over them.

The work on the content has already been completed and the updated films stuck in place.
