The LEADER region Wachau-Dunkelsteinerwald comprises two strong sub-regions: The Wachau, awarded the European Diploma for Protected Areas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Dunkelsteinerwald working group, which has been operating as a small region for a decade.
